Camping in Style and Comfort

YSIN has developed the Opera Guidebook, a collection of unique camping locations in the YSIN philosophy: Camping in Style and Comfort.

More and more campers are older, retired people looking for the good life. They seek intimate, high-quality camping locations, with a high comfort factor and every concern for their privacy. And they would like to meet people like themselves.

They choose camping because they consider life under canvas the ideal kind of holiday. Easygoing, outdoor living, often recalling treasured memories of the best holidays of their childhood.

Our goal is to bring camping fully into the 21st century as a fully-fledged form of high-quality tourism, combining the atmosphere of the past with the amenities of today.

We looked for surprising camping locations with an extremely high “wow” factor, those few-and-far between special places that you never forget. Our goal was not to produce a selection of more or less the same campsite in different locations, but to appreciate and promote the uniqueness and character of each of our selections.

On the one hand, we have the simple campsites at unforgettable locations.

At the other end of the spectrum, we have the sites in the locations that may not be the most spectacular, but so hospitable and with so many amenities that you will feel like you’re staying in a resort. It is not that the one is rated more highly than the nother; all sites we have selected represent the specific qualities the discerning traveller expects from the individual country and region in Europe.

Finding these quality sites amid the vast range of camping guides and CD-ROMs is often like finding a needle in a haystack. The information presented in the guides is important, but the atmosphere at the actual site often differs significantly from the expectations created. Moreover, the number of campsites that meet our criteria is exceedingly small.

Our descriptions and photographs are intended to give you the most accurate possible picture of the atmosphere of the sites. We considered this approach more relevant than a stark checklist of the individual facilities.

Of course our selection is subjective, but is derived from the following criteria:

Style and atmosphere, privacy, natural beauty, amenities and sanitary facilities.

We intend to meet the owners and operators of the selected campsites periodically in a joint effort to recognise and promote the quality aspects of the selected sites, and ultimately to set even better qualifications.

The guidebook has been made available to Opera users in 2010.
